Oklahoma Storms

In the rolling thunder and lightning strikes, I've lost myself.

In sadness. In guilt.

In resentment, the kind that sets its roots in and only continues to grow.

A fatal storm twenty years ago changed my entire life.

And I'm angry it didn't take me too.

Living is hard when you're sick of it.

Life gets even harder when a group of storm chasers trespass on my property.

My fangs drop. Crimson colors my vision. Heat floods my body.

The breeze carries a scent that awakens my vampire and that can only mean one thing.

My fated mate is here. She's a storm chaser.

And I hate chasers.

I'm a cowboy wanting to be left alone and yet I'm forced to accept what Fate has given me.

I have to learn to love life again for her because if I don't, we die.

I can't survive losing Nariko.

Saving her from what she loves most is better than losing her to my fears.

We're our own storm causing havoc, but how do we chase what is doomed to consume us?
