Olam Haneshamoth, Or A View Of The Intermediate State, As It Appears In The Records Of The Old And New Testament &C by George Bennet. This work presents a Hebrew-grounded inquiry into the intermediate state between death and the resurrection. Bennet argues that the Bible consistently treats the afterlife as two realms: the world of spirits (Sheol/Hades) and the future life beyond the grave, which includes Paradise and the heavenly Zion. The author analyzes Hebrew terms such as Ad and Olam, the Berith-Olam covenant, and the God of the hidden period, and surveys a wide range of sources, from Hebrew scriptures, Apocrypha, Rabbis, Greek and Latin fathers, and even heathen writers, to illuminate the designs of the afterlife. He explains the progression of the soul through mortality, the separation of body and soul, the role of Messiah, and the ultimate rest in the presence of God, concluding with discussions of Zion, the day-star, and the new heavens and earth. The work aims to clarify biblical teaching on happiness, judgment, and the future state.
