The Old Man, His Son And The Ass: A Fabulous Tale: Embellish'D With Engravings

A father, a son, and their humble donkey set out on a journey-only to discover that pleasing everyone is an impossible task. This classic moral fable, first brought to Victorian readers as an illustrated chapbook, remains as relevant today as it was in the 19th century. With its wry public opinion satire and gentle wit, W. Orne's "The Old Man, His Son And The Ass" invites both children and adults to reflect on the folly of chasing approval and the wisdom of staying true to oneself. Five simple words: Not everyone will agree. This short didactic tale, beautifully embellished with period engravings, is a gem of Victorian children's literature. Ideal for bedtime fables, homeschool character education, or family reading, it distils the essence of timeless lessons found in Aesop's and La Fontaine's fables. The unforgettable journey of the father, son, and donkey offers a vivid illustration of the dangers of bending to every voice-a message as vital in today's world of shifting opinions as it was in the bustling streets of the past. The original 19th century engravings capture the charm and humour of the tale, making it a delight for young readers and a nostalgic treasure for collectors. Republished by Alpha Editions in a careful modern edition, this volume preserves the spirit of the original while making it effortless to enjoy today-a heritage title prepared for readers and collectors alike. Whether you are seeking a meaningful bedtime fable, a resource for homeschool character education, or a rare addition to your classic literature collection, this illustrated chapbook stands as both a cultural artefact and a source of enduring wisdom.
