The Old School, Vol. 2 of 2 (Classic Reprint)

Rich life, delicate humor, and the tug between duty and desire unfold in a diary of a Victorian household, where courtships, faith, and family bonds shape each day.

This edition continues the intimate, epistolary storytelling set in Jerningham Hall, following Campbell and Selina as they navigate affection, propriety, and the expectations of friends and family. Through letters and journal-like entries, readers glimpse social rituals, parental guidance, and the quiet joys and tensions of young adults seeking independence within a tightly knit circle.

• A vivid cast of characters including Sir William and Lady Jerningham, Miss Jerningham, and the surgical wit of Dr. Burton, who weigh love against duty.
• Delicate, sometimes witty scenes of courtship, household life, and the brisk social dances of the era.
• Reflections on virtue, religion, and the idea of a hopeful future, echoed through discussions of “a Future State” and moral considerations.
• Moments of humor and warmth amidst tender, sometimes bittersweet, family dynamics.
