This 6.5 x 8.875 inch, unpaginated hardcover book without a dust wrapper is an early printing of this title and possibly a first edition, with the Bobbs Merril Company shown on the title page . . . with no date . . . and the copyright page showing The Bowen-Merrill Company, 1902. This copy has the green cloth covers, gilt lettering, and green-and-red decoration along with the oval image inset on the front cover. The cover is in very good condition with touches of time wear showing to the corners and spine extremities but this mostly is discoloration at the corners and not a fraying and wearing through. The interior is all but near fine with only the glued seam at the title page having separated between the title page and the Christy frontispiece . . . but this has not compromised the integrity of the binding. All in all a nice copy of this title.
