The Old Whig V1: Or The Consistent Protestant (1739)

The Old Whig V1: Or The Consistent Protestant (1739) is a book written by Samuel Chandler. The book is a collection of essays that were originally published in The Old Whig, a periodical that Chandler edited. The essays in the book deal with a variety of topics related to politics and religion, including the role of government in promoting religion, the rights of dissenters, and the dangers of religious fanaticism. Chandler argues that the principles of the Whig party, which emphasized individual liberty and limited government, were consistent with the principles of Protestantism. He also defends the Glorious Revolution of 1688, which established the supremacy of Parliament over the monarchy and secured the rights of English citizens. The Old Whig V1: Or The Consistent Protestant is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of political and religious thought in England during the eighteenth century. In Two Volumes. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
