Olympic Flowers: Field Guide To The Flora Of Mt Olympus

This remarkable volume is expertly written by the distinguished botanist and leading authority on Greek flora, Arne Strid, in collaboration with researcher and photographer Lefteris Kipopoulos.

It opens with an insightful introduction to the geography, geology, history, trails, refuges, botanical exploration, and the National Park of Olympus.

The heart of the book is a beautifully illustrated guide to 372 notable plant species—those hikers are most likely to encounter on their way to the peaks.

The species are arranged alphabetically and include clear information on habitat, flowering season, and distribution, presented in accessible language and supported by a glossary. Carefully composed photographs highlight each plant’s form and key identifying features.

The book concludes with a complete list of the 1,983 plant species recorded in the Olympus area, making it an invaluable companion for hikers and plant enthusiasts alike.
