The wise man wrote that "a word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver" (Proverbs 25:11). Good and forceful illustrations are such adornments to an effective sermon. Derl Keefer has a unique ability to uncover these nuggets of experience that leave lasting impressions in the hearts and minds of listeners. I highly recommend this book to pastors.

Illustrations are windows of light, helping a passage of scripture to come alive to the listeners of a sermon. Yet one of the most difficult and frustrating tasks for preachers and others who speak in public is finding an illustration that fits the occasion just right. That's why Open Doors For Preaching, Teaching, And Public Speaking can be such a valuable tool. I have been well served over the years by clipping and filing the illustrations which Derl Keefer has published. Now they are compiled in a single volume. You simply cannot have too many illustration resources. This one is a must for your bookshelf.
