Open Innovation in Science Center: Fieldbook

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft Open Innovation in Science (OIS) Center (LBG OIS Center), this fieldbook raws on ten years of experience to support the practical application of OIS principles in research practice and beyond. It provides concrete examples methods and learning resources, as well as conceptual insights on engaging society and involving communities to participate. The fieldbook emphasizes inclusive approaches to transdisciplinary innovation and highlights the importance of integrating artistic and creative dimensions alongside experiental and scientific knowledge. By offering hands-on examples, methodological guidance, historical context, and a repository of projects and frameworks, this volume seeks to make OIS both accessible and actionable in scholarly work. It is designed to help researchers to embed OIS into their scientific practice and to contribute to the training of future experts in the field.
