Opening Boxes

Opening Boxes: How to Navigate Life When You Have Autism offers an essential guide for individuals on the autism spectrum who want to break through barriers and build more meaningful, successful interactions with neurotypicals. Written by Jay Rothman, an autistic author who only discovered his diagnosis at the age of 46, this book provides practical advice on overcoming obstacles in daily life, from workplace challenges to personal relationships.

Drawing from his own life experiences, Rothman offers valuable insights into topics such as the importance of education, navigating job markets, avoiding common employment pitfalls, and building strong, lasting relationships. What sets Opening Boxes apart from other autism self-help books is its exploration of rarely discussed subjects: the power of dreams and goals, turning sadness into positivity, and the pursuit of personal fulfillment.

Whether you're on the autism spectrum or seeking to better understand the unique perspectives of those who are, Opening Boxes is a must-read. This compassionate, no-nonsense guide is a powerful tool for creating meaningful change and fostering more empathetic communication between autistic and neurotypical individuals.

Jay Rothman, an award-winning writer, editor, and photographer, is also a contributor to Dr. Temple Grandin’s book Different…Not Less, Volume 2. He resides in Phoenix, Arizona, and continues to advocate for greater autism awareness and understanding.
