[20], 336p; 337-742p. Contemporary quarter red calf with a gilt ruled spine over marbleized boards. AN ENTIRELY INTERLEAFED COPY with untrimmed edges. Richly annotated with marginal notes on the inserted leaves and occasional translations of the text into English. The watermark on the blank leaves by the firm Golding & Snelgrove. There is an unusual reference to Tobias Smollett in a 19th century script by somebody who wrote Humphrey Clinker on one leaf. Bookplate removed in both volumes. Some foxing to the preliminary leaves of the printed text otherwise a fresh clean copy in a rather unique state.
