Half leather binding, deep red Morocco spine an corners, five raised bands on the spine gilt lettered author an dtitle on one compartment. Top edge gilt ,and marbled endpapers.xix, 425 pages. With 18 maps, some folding, six of which are bound in at the end of the text and not in a rear pocket as mentioned in the contents list. Smaller maps and diagrams on the text pages. 7.5 X 10 inches. Very sound and solid binding with firm hinges. All maps present as called for. Minor rubbing, corners pushed in. Some spotting to page edges, and to first and last pages and very occasionally inside. Gift inscription on the fly leaf from a master at Eton to his student on his leaving. Very good copy.
