Ophelia's Oracle is a delightful story of a 12-year-old girl who explores her emerging sense of self. Ophelia is told ancient feminine stories by caring and supportive women in her life, and through her own experiences, learns the importance of these stories today.

"In Japan," Chiyo began," Amaterasu watches over all the Earth, guiding the building of irrigation canals, nurturing the fields of growing rice, and overseeing her palace in the great Weaving Hall .... As the sun goddess, she is known as 'The Great Woman Who Possess Noon."   "Obachon (grandmother)," Ophelia said, "I love that story. Will you tell it to me again sometime? Amaterasu is a brave and beautiful woman."

Ophelia learns that ultimately,  she can turn within to listen to her own guidance and discover what is her truth. As Ophelia grows into a deeper understanding of herself, she recognizes that even when hearing the wisest story, noticing how it resonates with her is what matters most. She learns to trust her own inner knowing. "Well, you know, Ophelia, the most important messages come from your own wisdom. Sometimes our stories can inspire your own wisdom to step forward. You really no longer need oracles . . .."

She discovers her deep connection to the natural world. She learns to love and appreciate her mixed cultural heritage, and all people.
