Nachdem die Faschismus-Forschung lange auf die beiden grossen Protofaschismen in Italien und Deutschland konzentriert war, wendet sie sich in den letzten Jahren verstaerkt den kleinen Regimen zu. In diesem Zusammenhang widmet sich das vorliegende Heft dem Austrofaschismus als einem in mehrerlei Hinsicht aufschlussreichen Studienobjekt fuer kleine Diktaturen. Die Beitraege fragen nach Art und Grad ideologischer Transfers, nach Strategien in regimeinternen Rivalitaeten und Versuchen, abseits stehende Bevoelkerungsteile zu integrieren, schliesslich nach bisher unbeachteten Aspekten der Repressionspolitik und des Nachrichtenwesens. Zwei Beitraege befassen sich ausserdem mit jener Struktur, die im letzten Moment versuchte, der Systemdurchsetzung bewaffneten Widerstand entgegenzusetzen: mit dem Republikanischen Schutzbund als Miliz der heimischen Arbeiterbewegung.For years fascism research mostly focused on the two major proto-fascisms in Italy and Germany. Recently, it has increasingly turned attention on small regimes. For this reason, the present issue is devoted to Austrofascism as an informative study object for small dictatorships. The contributions discuss the type and degree of ideological transfer, strategies in internal regime rivalries and attempts to integrate marginalized sections of the population, and previously ignored aspects of repressive policy and the intelligence system. Two contributions also deal with the structure that at the last moment attempted to oppose the systems implementation with armed resistance: the Republican Protection League as a militia of the local labour movement.
