Optical Network Design and Modelling

Optical network design and modelling is an essential issue for planning and operating networks for the next century. The main issues in optical networking are being widely investigated not only for WDM networks but also for optical TDM and optical packet switching. This book aims to contribute to further progress in optical network architectures, design, operation and management and covers the following topics in detail:

Harmen R. van As is full-professor at the Vienna University of Technology and head of the Institute of Communication Networks established in 1996. He has served in technical and organizing committees of many international conferences, and chairs the IFIP Working Group 6.10 on Photonic Networking. Admela Jukan is an assistant professor with the Institute of Communication Networks at the Vienna University of Technology. She has engaged in a variety of optical network research projects, and is the author of more than 30 scientific papers in the field. She coordinates annually the IFIP Working Conference on Optical Network Design and Modelling.
