Both volumes 8vo, with publisher's light green paper boards with gilt lettering. Both volumes bright and clean internally. Volume One: xi, [1], 102, [xiii]-xxii, [3] pages. Overall light fading to the boards (as normal). A first printing, first edition, from 1972. No ISBN number. Volume Two: xi, [1], 110 pages. Several puncture marks in the front board not affecting textblock and several minor splotches to the boards. First published in 1974, this is a second printing from April 1980. ISBN 0904962024. Boards. Volumes 14 and 15 in the Microscope Series. Volume One contains chapters on refraction and reflection of light, formation of images by lenses, image formation by the microscope, the illumination system, optical defects of images and their correction, performace characteristics of objectives oculars and condensors, and conclusion and index.
