Optimising Navigation in the Congo River (Paperback)

Paperback. Optimising Navigation and Water Resource Management in the Congo River examines the vital role of the Congo River in supporting local economies in Africa. Despite its significance, its potential remains underutilised due to limited data and understanding of resource dynamics. This book introduces an integrated approach that combines hydraulic modelling and remote sensing, enhancing decision-making for navigation and water resource management in the Congo Basin. By establishing a comprehensive database of satellite-derived and in situ measurements, it improves river characterisation and supports a robust 2D hydraulic model.Addressing the complexities of modelling large river systems, the research employs innovative methodologies to estimate hydrological variables. Findings reveal substantial advancements in understanding the hydrodynamics of the Congo River.Ultimately, this work offers essential tools for effective water resource management and navigation, producing optimised maps that improve safety and efficiency for stakeholders.
