Reiner Thiele entwickelt eine neue Theorie f�r optische Nachrichtensysteme, die ohne die Maxwell-Gleichungen der Elektrotechnik auskommt. Dazu definiert er charakteristische Momente und Funktionen f�r die Systemelemente einer Punkt-Punkt-Verbindung. Au�erdem schl�gt der Autor Dreieck-Impulse als Modulationssignal vor. Dadurch entstehen inverse Gabor-Wavelets im Lichtwellenleiter, mit denen die Signal�bertragung erfolgt. Dies f�hrt zu effizienten schaltungstechnischen L�sungen an den Endstellen der �bertragungsstrecke. Damit ergibt sich schlie�lich ein einfaches Verfahren zur Signal-Rekonstruktion im Empf�nger.
