Corners and spine ends bumped, inner hinges beginning to separate but still solid, occasional light foxing, else very good. Howes T-442. Cowan (1914), p. 234. Wheat Transmississippi 530, 531. "A masterly argument in support of the British claims to Oregon, and written to refute Greenhow (THE HISTORY OF OREGON., 1845). This work, without alteration, was reprinted at New York the same year, but issued in smaller size and form" (Cowan). Both Howes and Sabin are in error in calling for a frontispiece. The two maps support the British view of the Oregon question. The large one of North America shows a boundary including all of Oregon, although the more detailed map rather belies the argument by being based on a U.S. survey, evidently by Hood.…
