About The Author: Manmath Chandra Mallik (1853 1922) was a British Indian barrister, writer, and Liberal Party candidate. Born in Calcutta into the Basu Mallik family, he studied at Christ s College, Cambridge, and was called to the bar in 1875. He contested parliamentary seats for the Liberal Party in 1906 and 1910 but was unsuccessful. Mallik was active in social and political circles across London, Edinburgh, Calcutta, and Tokyo, and was a Fellow of the Zoological Society of London. A widely travelled intellectual, he authored works on philosophy, politics, and cultural comparison, including Problem of Existence, Impressions of a Wanderer, and Orient and Occident.
