Origin: The Heritage Files - Phase One

John Barnes is just a normal guy who takes his pet dog out for a walk on his fiftieth birthday. Together they find something that leads him to discover the true history of mankind - and its destiny.

His life changes for ever, in many ways, as do the lives of Earth's entire population as they are drawn inexorably into a battle for survival that spans not only this galaxy, but beyond.

Fighting an evil and merciless enemy, earth had but one ally, and ally with more humanity than her creators could have wished for - or has she?

Roger Hydes was born in Burton-on-Trent, England, in January 1952 - the youngest of three brothers. He lost both his parents in his late teens and, at a loss as to what to do in life, joined the British Army as a trainee motor mechanic. Nine years later, married, and now with two young children of his own, he decided it was time to provide a more stable family life for his wife, his son, and his daughter.

Settling down near Luton in Bedfordshire, close to where he had met his future wife, he progressed in his chosen trade to become a Master Technician in the motor industry. Always though, his fascination for almost anything to do with the cosmos played on his mind. Eventually, many years later, he decided to write his first novel based on an idea that had filled his mind for a very long time. There was simply too much in the storyline however for a single book, so - The Heritage Files is the result.

"I hope that you derive as much pleasure from reading The Heritage Files as I gained from its telling."
Roger Hydes.
