Original lithographed seed packet for the plant, fruit, or vegetable named in the title. Contains no seeds. Front features a color illustration of a couple of Boston Marrow squashes on a pale blue background. No date, circa 1920s. 3 1/4" x 5." Printed on front and back. "Genesee Valley Litho. Co., Rochester, N. Y." printed on the flap. Brief information about the plant and planting instructions on the back. Seed packet is very clean and intact except for slight age toning and a few small wrinkles. A Fine copy. The Card Seed Company was founded in 1908 in Fredonia, New York. The company sold seeds for a variety of plants, fruits, and vegetables. The Card Seed Co. closed during the 1920s. The Genesee Valley Lithographic Company was founded in 1912 by Herman J. Meyering in Rochester, New York. The company was among the first to print seed packets in New York. The company's name was changed to Hammer Lithograph after it was acquired by Walter Hammer. The company is still in business to this day but is currently known as Hammer Packaging.
