Original Politics: Making America Sacred Again

A compelling exploration of America's political legacy, revealing the profound influence of Native American thought on the nation's founding principles.

Original Politics demonstrates how the best aspects of America's founding vision were inspired by Native American cultures, including concepts of natural rights, liberty, and egalitarian justice. Parry traces this influence not only on the founding fathers but also on the 'founding mothers' of the 19th-century women’s movement, the abolitionist movement, and modern ecological movements. He advocates for piecing together forgotten fragments of history to heal America’s political divisions and threats to democratic values.

Parry reveals America's sacred purpose: bringing all the world’s peoples together on one soil in a harmonious cultural mosaic of unity in diversity. He argues that while there have been periodic setbacks in our nation’s history, these only serve as catalysts reigniting our sacred purpose. Original Politics is ultimately about respecting all forms of life and all forms of political expression as different aspects of one whole, offering a reclamation project that brings people, land, and nation together as one. This is an important and timely for anyone seeking to understand America's political journey and find a path toward a more sacred, unified future.
