Original publisher's gray paper wrappers with staple binding. Color illustration on front cover shows a portrait of a ballerina. No date, circa 1949. 9" x 12." Unpaginated, all pages, complete. Black-and-white illustrations, complete. Included are many advertisements for a variety of products and businesses. Pages are very clean and intact except for light age toning and slight wear to extremities. Covers are very clean and intact except for light age toning and slight wear to extremities. A Very Good, almost Near Fine copy. This is an original program for Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo for Season 1949-1950. The following are some of the contents. Black-and-white photographic illustrations of ballet dancers Alexandra Danilova, Frederic Franklin, Mia Slavenska, Leon Danielian, Ruthanna Boris, Mary Ellen Moylan, Oleg Tupine, Roman Jasinsky, Gertrude Tyven, Nina Novak, Yvonne Chouteau, Michel Katcharoff, Robert Lindgren, Sonia Taanila, Natalia Clare, Moscelyne Larkin, Valrene Tweedie, Job Sanders, Bernice Rehner, Jeanette Tannan, Shirley Haynes, Harding Dorn, Richard Thomas, Gerard Leavitt. "Who's Who" section with brief biographies about some of the dancers. Ballet repertoire (ballets the company performs) with synopses (may be a partial list). Some of the advertised products or businesses: Houbigant, Hockanum, Parfum de Caron, J. Berle, and Tru Balance. Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo was founded in 1937 by Rene Blum and Leonide Massine. This ballet company was one of the successors of Ballets Russes which had dissolved after Blum and Wassily de Basil (also known as Colonel W. de Basil) had parted ways. The company was active until 1968 when it became bankrupt.
