An Ounce of Prevention

Farming methods have changed substantially in the last 100 years. Pollution, degradation of the ground and water have resulted in soils unable to sustain life for healthy plants, animals, and people. Animals are now a commodity, their lives and health treated with disdain. In An Ounce of Prevention, author Alethea Kenney says there's still time to change and return to a sustainable way of life. She shares information on how animals live, thrive, reproduce, and die. Kenney focuses on the holistic connection between farm animals and their environment, each species' unique digestive system and physiological needs, and the most natural way to meet their nutritional needs in a farm or home setting. Complete with a list of resources, this book gives practical advice on raising farm and companion animals based on natural principles, and it reflects on the health of the environment as well as the health of animals, homes, and farms.
