Outbreak

Frank Samson returns with another tale of mystery and intrigue. This time, his veterinary locum business takes him to the south-west of Ireland where, within days, he comes across a rare case of anthrax.

With the help of his girlfriend Claire, Frank soon discovers that many such cases have already been hushed up by the authorities and he suspects that the outbreak may be deliberate. When Molly, the troubled daughter of the Minister for Agriculture, loses her horse to glanders - an even rarer disease - Frank begins to detect a pattern, but a brutal murder closes off his one clear avenue of investigation.

More lethal germs come to light, and suddenly, a deadly race is on to locate and obliterate them. Despite vicious warning beatings, an attempt on his life and an all-out assault on his relationship with Claire, Frank keeps a clear head. With resourceful determination, he tracks a cunning foe through the darker pathways of the bloodstock business, until, at last, he comes face to face with the unhinged and embittered figure who is behind a vengeful plot to unleash deadly plagues upon the land.
