The cover has beveled boards, brown cloth, and letters in gilt. The text block ends have gilt. The first four entries are narrative poems, two of them as dramas. The last third of the pages have 25 poems. The dedication page is to T. W. White. An owner's name on the front, blank page is Fred B. White, below which is Hernando, Miss, and Feb'y 12th 86. The top and bottom edges of the spine strip and the boards' front corners have tiny, faded spots from shelf wear rubbing. Six page margins each have a light stain, 1/4 in. to 1/2 in.
