The Outdoor Athlete: Total Training for Outdoor Performance

"The outdoor athlete, writes Steve Ilg, "seeks not an arena, but embraces the whole globe." From a focus on individual personal achievement, Ilg explores nutrition, aerobic training, strength training, recovery, flexibility, and mental skill training in general and then specifically relates each to cross-country and downhill skiing, technical climbing, mountaineering and backpacking, kayaking, and cycling.

Steve Ilg is one of the country’s most free-thinking and highly sought-after professional trainers. Working from a broad platform of outdoor athletic success, Ilg’s techniques and principles have achieved high performance results for world-class competitive athletes such as cyclist Andy Hampsten and outdoor purists like Everest summiter Gerry Roach.
