Outdoor Visits

This lively children's classic contains stories about the lives of many plants, creatures and insects in the parks, ponds, woodland and countryside during the four seasons. Over 100 illustrations are included.

Divided into winter, spring, summer and fall, we join a young lad named Don and a young girl named Nan as they discover more about animals and nature. They venture into their gardens, the parks, woods, fields and ponds to look around and learn about the creatures who live and the plants that grow. As each season passes, the pair observe how the different flowers and animals adapt and change with the weather. The migration of birds, the flowering and fruiting of plants, the appearance of bumblebees - we learn so much through what Don and Nan see.

The entire adventure across all the seasons of the year are helped by beautiful, detailed drawings. By looking at these, the young reader will discover much about nature. You can bring this book along during a trip outdoors, to see if you can find the same plants, bugs and creatures shown on the pages. To help readers remember what they've seen, the end of each season has questions - before progressing to the next season, readers can recap what they've seen so far.
