Map. Hand colored engraving. 17 1/2" x 28 3/8". Classic double page map of the city and county of Philadelphia in 1882. Features an incredibly detailed map of the city of Philadelphia, extending from North Philadelphia, including Fairmount Park and Port Richmond, to Mifflin St. in South Philadelphia. Map also depicts West Philadelphia, which was often omitted from maps of the city from this time; and includes part of Camden, NJ. Fire district and wards are labelled and hand colored. Streets, parks, notable buildings, railroads, and ferry lines are labeled. An inset on the right page shows a larger scale map of Philadelphia county, showing bordering Delaware and Montgomery counties; railroad lines are prominently depicted, as well as roads and town names.
