Reviews: PreSchool-Grade 1-- This serviceable interpretation of the traditional verse may not be needed in collections that already own Rojankovsky (HBJ, 1973) or Keats's versions (Four Winds, 1972; o.p.). Carter's collage illustrations are closer in style to the latter, but his animals seem stilted and stylized compared to Keats's work. Vibrant color is one of this book's strengths, as is the clever use of stamping texture on the collage figures. The entire rhyme is is printed at the back of the book; unfortunately, the musical score is not included. Many primary classrooms use this repetitive rhyme for introducing math and reading skills.
