Bilingual publication (English and Afrikaans). Dustwrapper very slightly rubbed, with trace of edgewear. Very good condition. "This short history was undertaken to preserve the memory of those people whose inspiration, foresight and perseverence secured for the Overberg three pipeline water schemes that have transformed farming and the quality of life in the area. The Overberg is situated in the south-western Cape and is generally accepted as being the area from the Hottentots Holland Mountains in the west to the Heidelberg/Riversdale districts in the east and bounded by the Langeberg Mountains in the north and by the Indian Ocean in the south. It includes the towns of Caledon, Napier, Bredasdorp, Riviersonderend, Swellendam, Heidelberg, Riversdale and a number of smaller settlements. . Implementation of the three water schemes did not occur overnight. It took 20 years between idea and reality in the case of the Duivenhoks scheme and 30 years in the case of the Rûensveld West.". …
