In this text you will learn of the fibers and stitches that were woven together through some of the hardest life experiences a person can endure. The types of experiences that unfortunately occur with significant frequency, but always in darkness and kept silent. That is until now. Thank you to each of the brave souls, who have bared it all for you, the reader, to be spared what they went through, in order to learn the wisdom from their experiences. Each author is a testimony to the spirit of survivorship and the best of humanity. The truth is each of us was created for a divine purpose, before we set one foot, or took our first breath, on this earth. Our lives are a journey that sometimes takes us to places we never fathomed or desired, we are faced with the shortfalls of humanity, and we even make choices in free-will that lead us towards pain. But God, in infinite grace loves us unconditionally, gives hope and instills faith, which resonate at the highest of frequencies and leads us to unwavering will to not only thrive but to be fully alive, present and intentional in this world. The book titled Overcomer was written during one of the worst global virus pandemics experienced, Covid-19 turned the world upside down, and changed our global and national culture, seemingly overnight. We were asked and then mandated to exercise physical distancing and then extended quarantine. Millions were infected, hundreds of thousands lost their lives to the virus, and our economies were dramatically depressed. The already marginalized were left in dire circumstances and the most unsavory among us were given unprecedented access to our children and vulnerable adults on and off line. Yet, amidst this chaos each writer albeit challenged, rose up against the compounded adversities, and did not deter from sharing their truth with you. We have and will continue to be refined through this shared pandemic experience. There is a new beginning arising in the twentieth century that will bring forth the fruit of our labor amidst the famine of despair. It will bring unity, as most of us have never experienced, and the paradigm of life and work balance, will adapt. The earth and its inhabitants will begin to flourish again but this time in expectant confidence in God. As you read the pages of this text you will be drawn into stories of powerfully overcoming hardship, loss, physical and emotional pain, exploitation, and trafficking. At times the read is not an easy one, but the one promise made by all the collaborating authors is that you will be forever changed, if you commit to execute the shared wisdom and realize that you are a masterpiece. The intent of our work, whether it be perceived from the context of self, work or humanity, is to ignite and engage, in order to affect the actualization of personal and community transformation through actionable faith, hope and unconditional love.
