About the Author
Roe Gallo, Ph.D. is an internationally known and recognized author, motivational speaker, and health educator. For over 20 years, Dr. Gallo has successfully used the concepts in her books to help people become fit, healthier, and overcome serious diseases such as cancer, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and diabetes. For the first 25 years of her life, Dr. Gallo, herself, battled horrendous allergies and asthma and came close to death many times. Her treatment incorporated the standard approaches of the time, including medications that the doctors admitted would eventually kill her, if her disease did not. Dr. Gallo's road to self-recovery was packed with misinformation, emotional food attachments and old beliefs the major obstacles for anybody trying to get healthy and fit. After medical science had left her with no good alternatives, she turned to physiology, the science of how the body functions. Dr. Gallo did the research, believed in what she discovered, applied the principles of physiology to her own life and got her health back. Since then, she has helped thousands of others regain their health through her writing, speaking and consulting. Dr. Gallo began her private consulting practice in 1988, and published her first book in 1994. Along with individual counseling and training, she now conducts lectures, seminars, workshops and classes. Dr. Gallo teaches how to build a healthy and beautiful body from the inside out, and how to enable the natural functions of the body to restore and maintain health. Her programs blend mind and body awareness to inspire people to change their lives, achieve balance and tap into their personal power to promote vibrant health. Dr. Gallo earned her Master's degree in Health Communication and her Ph.D. in Human Sexuality. She is an adjunct professor at San Francisco State University. Her publications include: Body Ecology, Perfect Body The Raw Truth, Perfect Body Beyond the Illusion and Sexual Strategies for Safety and Pleasure. Her new book, Overcoming the Myths of Aging, co-authored with Stephen Zocchi, challenges the myths that are aging us prematurely. Most of our 76 million baby boomers are buying into these aging myths, and as a result, accepting the onset of degenerative disease, excess fat, a flabby body, aches and pains and the belief that our physical age is the cause of their problems. Dr. Gallo and Mr. Zocchi refer to this condition as boomerosis. Buying into these aging myths is killing us, and Overcoming the Myths of Aging shows how to make the simple changes in attitude, diet and exercise that will lead to happier, healthier lives.
