Overcoming All Odds

The book portrays a literal rugs-to-riches story of a young girl who went from being a child-slave, to a successful professional. Told from a first person viewpoint, it takes the reader on an emotional and at times humorous journey, from the plains of rural Zimbabwe, to the built up cities of the United Kingdom.

Doly was born in Zimbabwe and lived in then Rhodesia, under child slavery and abuse. With enthusiasm, she strove to improve her life. This is the first book in a projected series to inspire. The author's aim is to assist in changing the lives of those who have gone through one difficulty or another. She aims to inspire readers to transform their lives by painting a personal picture of her own struggles and sufferings, from childhood to adulthood. Having been the victim of physical and mental abuse, she was also deprived of education-a basic human right to which every child should be entitled. She also faced starvation, poverty, rejection, sickness, and disease, and what constituted child slavery. She aims to use her not-so-pleasant upbringing to help change th lives of others who have and are going through the exact or similar circumstances to show that in the midst of suffering, one can rise up and overcome all odds and become someone and something.
