About the Author

Chris Powling is the author of more than 80 books for children, including The Phantom Carwash and Blade. He has also written books on children's reading, writing and language. Chris is a popular speaker at conferences and book events, as well as offering his own sessions on Creativity and on Talking into Reading into Writing. Jeannie Winston has been working as an illustrator and designer since 1978. Her work is influenced by colour and a profound love of animals, nature and magic. She is fascinated by the patterns and designs in flowers and plants and tries to convey a magical sense of playfulness in her work. She lives and works alongside her husband and son in Santa Monica, California. Nikki Gamble is the founder and Director of Write Away and Just Imagine Story Centre. Nikki has worked in education and reading promotion for over 25 years, Formerly a teacher (secondary and primary) and teacher educator, she is lecturer, writer and education consultant. Nikki is also on the current Executive Committee of United Kingdom Literacy Association (UKLA).
