The Penguins Ate My Postcards tells the story of one woman’s connections with people she met during her travels around the world. It draws parallels between places and events from one decade to another in an informal manner that is easy to read. Frequently, the author describes places as she saw them through the lens of her camera. Arlene Pullen wrote her first journal entry when she was in college. What began as a literary exercise developed into a lifelong challenge. Many of the essays in The Penguins Ate My Postcards emerged from journals written during relaxing moments on a vacation or tour. She has recently completed her career as a teacher and is currently learning to live in a non-structured day. She has written a family history and two books of poetry. The Penguins Ate My Postcards is her first collection of essays. She lives in New Jersey.
