PEOPLE, GET READY (FLYER)

SINGLE TYPESET PAGE WITH DECORATIVE BANNER WITH THE TITLE " PEOPLE GET READY" AT THE TOP AND TYPED "YOUTH INTERNATIONAL PARTY CHICAGO, AUGUST 25-30, 1968 YIPPEE!" AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE. THE YIPPEE MESSAGE IS AS FOLLOWS; The leaders of the National Democratic Party are planning to meet in Chicago in August; there to enact, for the television audience, all the drama and excitement of an American Political Convention, culminating, it is understood, in the nomination of L.B. Johnson for president of the United States, and Leader of the Free World. In the face of this act of sado- masochistic follly the free youth of America will simultaneously hold an enormous International Youth Festival in Chicago; there will be music playing with people swaying, dancing in the streets. Johnson and his delegates, locked in their slaughterhouse convention hall theater, will make ugly speeches and play ugly campaign music, while we, the living breathing youth of the world, will make the city a theater and every restaurant Alice's. Already, throughout parks and vacant lots in and around Chicago, agents of the potheads' Benevolent Association have planted hundreds of thousands of pot seeds. The long hot summer of 1968 is expected to produce ideal weather for marijuana growing, and most of the crop should be ready for smoking by the end of August. Free people, free pot, free music, free theater. A whole new culture will manifest itself to the world, rising from the ashes of America. Rock groups will be performing in the parks; newspapers will be printed in the streets; police will play cops and robbers in the department stores; Democrats and dope fiends will chase each other through hotel corridors. Longboats filled with Vikings will land on the shores of Lake Michigan, and discover America! Chicago will become a river of wild onions!"
