Red cloth cover.unpaginated prelims+236; no obvious faults at all; unclipped jacket generally clean and unworn but tear acroos bottom 2.5 cms of spine still visible although closed internally with tear-repair tape. Rickman's contributions are based on a stay in Russia 1916-1918 as a medic., Gorer's section is more psychological and touches on child-development, 2 of the 3 appendices concern Gorer's 'swaddling hypothesis' which had some subsequent success among those interested in applying psychoanalytic perspectives to national character. A book of some enduring interest.
