Hardcover. 57 PHOTOS MOSTLY SHOWING SURVEYS AND COMMUNITY VIEWS. The Forestport dam was begun in 1883 Colvin Verplank visited then. W. W. Jeffers was appointed Assistant Engineer of the Middle Division of the of the Erie Canal in 1895. The cover photo has portraits of the staff. Inside there is a smiling image of a surveyor who could be Verplank but his diary does not list a visit in this later period. . Sm 4to., SOME PHOTOGRAPHS HAVE FADED. OTHERS ARE BRIGHT. NO COVERS ON ALBUM .
