This is an album of 62 albumen photographs by James Valentine, the famous founder of the company that bore his name. 43 are 4 1/2 by 6 1/2 inches and mounted two to a page. 3 are 7 1/2 by 9 1/2 inches, mounted one to a page. And 5 are smaller oval images related to Sir Walter, all mounted on a single leaf. One loose 5 by 8 inch photo is dated 1897 on the back; but because it is loose and a different size I suspect it was inserted at a later date, and the album itself is from the 1870's or 1880's. A classic grouping of Scottish photographs with both city and rural views, and a page devoted to one ofScotlands most famous and successful authors - an unusual feature. Rubbing to the binding, occasional spotting to the mounts, but photos quite clean and crisp. EXTRA POSTAGE. Seller Inventory # 1713
