PIANO PRACTICE GAMES BOOK 2: HAL

Piano Practice Games Book 2 from the Hal Leonard Student Piano Library by educators Barbara Kreader, Phillip Keveren, and Fred Kern is an early intermediate piano learning supplement designed to support students as they build coordination, musical understanding, and confidence at the keyboard. This collection introduces lesson pieces through engaging, game-based preparation activities that connect technique, theory, and creativity, making it especially useful for students progressing through a structured piano method and for teachers seeking interactive lesson material.

This piano book presents a curated selection of pieces paired with imaginative exercises that encourage students to explore music aurally, visually, and physically before performance. The notation aligns with the corresponding lessons in the Hal Leonard Student Piano Library, while the included online audio accompaniments mirror lesson material to support timing, listening skills, and ensemble awareness. It works effectively in both individual and group lesson settings, as well as guided home practice.

By transforming preparation into play, this collection supports stronger retention of musical concepts while reducing practice fatigue. Students are guided to internalize rhythm, phrasing, and expression through movement and interaction, making each piece feel more intuitive and musical. Teachers benefit from flexible use in lessons, where these activities naturally encourage participation, creativity, and collaborative learning.
