A stunning, RARE & OBSCURE view of the American "Black Ship," a steam driven side paddle-wheeler, the U.S.S. MISSISSIPPI. . With period re-backing, which strengthens the thin Washi [handmade] mulberry paper, as well as mends some old worm holes. The print is very solid and firm. There is evidence where it was most likely adhered to a previous board, with the remains of 5-6 spots of a slightly different color; most of which are visible from the front, a very minor distraction. . There is some of the usual 'toning' to the paper, comensurate with its age, being over 167 years old. The print has excellent registry and impression. . *** RARITY: This print is exceptionally RARE, UNIQUE & OBSCURE, not found in any of the usual reference books of the period. .
