"PROSPERITY IS HERE" declares a headline in this issue of The Pierre Rustler, which is accompanied by a "Map showing the Geographical Location and Advantages; also her Railway Advantages as they will be when a Portion of the Present Projected Lines are Completed." The audience is prospective settlers, and it is likely this issue was mailed, rather than distributed locally. Founded in 1880, Pierre is the capital city of South Dakota, selected for its geographic centrality in the state. The map is printed on one side of a 16" x 11" sheet, while the newspaper is printed on both sides of a 22" x 16" sheet with four panels. Folded into an envelope size, with a tiny amount of edgewear; else very good.
