Kunming 1937, [Privately Printed]. Stiff green wrs., silver title label on covers, spine a bit faded, 37p., 13.5 x 19 cm contents very clean & bright, nicely done. FIRST & ONLY PRIVATE EDITION Per the foreword, prepared by E.D. Reese: "This volume was prepared as a memorial to dear friend and Sister, Sylvie M. Ward." * SMALL, OBSCURE AND PRIVATE EDITION: This is an obscure and privately printed small edition, printed in [Kunming] China. One copy we have has a small silver slip tipped into the inside of the front cover stating: "Printed in China." *** SYLVIA M. WARD [1846-1924]: "Sylvie" as she was known in China, was an American missionary stationed in Kunming, Yunnan China. She was a medical missionary and author expert on measles. She co-authored an article on the subject. See below for more details. . She was buried in Riverside Cemetery, Grafton, Worcester County Massachusetts. * Sylvie was married to Frederick Albert Bonn [1843-1919], he was also buried in Riverside Cemetery, Grafton, Massachusetts. His head stone remembers Sylvia, see the reference below. . Althouogh we can not find other details about him to confirm our suspicion, we believe he was also a missionary in Kunming during the time his wife was also doing missionary work in Yunnan. **** REFERENCES: Sylvia M.
