Large lithographed hand-coloured plan showing lodes, boundaries of setts etc. Mounted on linen, size approx. 32" x 45", margins left and right, affixed to wooden stretcher at top and to wooden roller at bottom. Lacks most of silk edging ribbon. Tears into the large title top right (in the paper, but not the linen), one reaching 3" in from the top edge, another 5" from the top, tear closed by being re-stuck to linen, but still visible, another similar tear 2" long reaching from the bottom edge, just touching some field boundaries. Many light creases in paper in right hand half of map. Large title top right, compass rose bottom left, with Explanation giving colours for Lodes, Underlie of Lodes, Adits, Crosscourses & Flookans, Elvan-courses, Boundaries of Setts, Granite, Slate. Scale bars in fathoms and chains. Setts outlined in dotted line, and coloured in different pale colours, names of setts in large letters, and names of mines in slightly smaller but bolder type. Also shows roads, buildings, wooded areas (with small trees), field outlines. Quarries, Shafts, Wheels, Engines, Account Houses, tunnel of Tavistock Canal indicated. Map extends from Huel Fortescue in the north, Tavistock Canal in the east, Kithill Sett in the West, Cotehele Quay in the south. Mines include Huel Maris, Lammerhook Huel Maria, Huel Williams, Bedford United, Wheal Pleasant, Huel Crebor, Drake Walls, Huel Mexico, Huel Calstock, Huel Bedford, Huel Russel, Huel Fanny, Danescombe, and many others.
