Stein (1909-1967) war ein bedeutender deutsch-j discher Pionier der Kleinbildphotographie und als Photograph Autodidakt. Mit seinen Portraits, besonders denen von Albert Einstein, erlangte er Weltruhm. 1933 brach er ein Jurastudium ab und emigrierte als Jude und Sozialist, frisch verm?hlt, mit seiner Frau, als Hochzeitsreise getarnt, nach Paris.
