When the Lord gave me this strange title in 1986, I knew instantly that it was to be the title of an autobiography I would write someday.

When we think of a rod, we think of correction. Shepherds use the staff to guide the sheep, but the rod is used as an instrument of discipline. I wasnt comfortable with the thought of being used to bring judgment or correction to people. But the Holy Spirit revealed to me that the rod of Moses had no power in itself it was an instrument God used to show His power. I felt peace as God reminded me that it is His Spirit that will flow through the rod.

This book gives a chronological account of my life regarding the things of the Spirit. May it encourage and strengthen you to be used as God s instrument too. ~Sid Barnes 1935-2010

As a legacy to Sid s ministry, a scholarship fund has been set up for the Calvary Chapel Bible Training Center, Ghana, to sponsor African students to become Bible-trained and equipped to plant Calvary Chapels in Africa.
