Possible publisher variant binding as this set differs from other listings and yet binding appears to be original. First edition in book form. No half-titles called for. Soiling and rubbing to covers, text lightly foxed with minor staining in scattered areas. Some hinges split (but holding); early bookplates to front paste-downs and ffep of each volume (causing puckering to later.) Ownership signature and small circular stamp on each volume. Volume 4 spine darkened with slight loss to gilt title. In all, a very good copy of one the great Palliser novels. The Prime Minister was never reprinted in this four-volume format. NOT EX-LIBRARY.
