This volume is billed as a Special Supplement to Advances in Applied Probability [March 1978]. It records a conference held in Canberra in May 1977, under the auspices of CSIRO Division of Mathematics and Statistics. The participants were chiefly Australian: M. S. Bartlett provides a lead paper, An Introduction to the Analysis of Spatial Patterns.
